Every failed print is a message. It is a message written in the language of plastic, heat, and motion. The problem is that the printer is a terrible communicator. It will not tell you, "My Z-axis lead screw nut has developed 0.4mm of backlash," or "My PTFE tube has backed out of the heat break, creating a 6mm void where filament is pooling and degrading." Instead, it will show you a first layer that looks like a topographic map of a mountain range, or a print that detached from the bed at layer 47 and is now a plastic tumbleweed, or a surface so rough it feels like 60-grit sandpaper.
Your job, as the person at the bench, is to translate those symptoms into root causes.
