You plan early. You compare prices. You skip the hotel and book the hostel, or the rental apartment, or the room with the shared bathroom. You eat street food instead of restaurants, walk instead of taking taxis, say no to the guided tour because you can read the plaque on the wall for free. And still, somehow, the bill at the end looks... like any other trip. Maybe a bit lower, but not dramatically.
