You have read the advice. You have heard it in webinars, in TED talks, and in the confident voices of women who made it to the top and turned around to tell you the secret. Lean in. Be more confident. Stop apologizing. Ask for what you want. Find your sponsor. Build your personal brand.

You have tried it. And some of it worked, for a while, in specific situations. But the overall picture has not changed as much as you hoped.
