The Core of the Job: Systems That Control Climate

At its heart, this occupation is about three intertwined families of systems. First, there's heating. That includes furnaces that burn natural gas, propane, or oil, as well as electric heat pumps and boilers that move heat through water or steam. Second, there's air conditioning. That's the compressors, condensers, evaporator coils, and refrigerants that pull heat out of a building and dump it outside. Third, there's refrigeration.
