Let's clear up the biggest myth about yoga right now: it is not about being flexible. It is not about looking like the impossibly bendy people on Instagram. At its core, yoga is a system of physical postures, breathing exercises, and moments of stillness, done sequentially on a mat. The goal isn't to twist yourself into a pretzel; it's to spend time with your body and breath in a focused way. That's it. That's the hobby. Day-to-day, what does this actually look like? You roll out a mat, or even just a towel on the floor, and you follow a sequence of poses. You hold these positions for a few breaths, you move through them in a logical order, and you end up lying flat on your back for the last few minutes. That final rest is called savasana, and it sounds simple, but it's often the hardest and best part of the session.
