A bicycle handlebar extension is any component that attaches to the handlebar or stem to provide an additional hand position, a more aerodynamic posture, or both. The term covers a wide range of hardware: short bolt-on bar ends that fit inside a mountain bike grip, long aerodynamic clip-on bars used in time trials, and adjustable multi-position bars that mount to the stem faceplate.
