The Whole Is a System, Not a Sum of Parts
A kiteboard is not a single piece of molded plastic. It is a carefully assembled system of a deck, two or more foot straps, pads, and four to six fins - plus roughly a dozen small metal or plastic fasteners that hold it all together. Each of these parts has a specific job, and each one affects the behavior of the others. The deck provides the buoyancy and the flex pattern; the fins provide grip and directional stability; the foot straps and pads transmit the forces from your feet into the board's rail. If you change any one of these components, you change the entire character of the board.
Most riders do not think about parts until something fails. A snapped fin, a stripped insert, or a torn strap pad forces them to look at the hardware for the first time. In that moment, they discover that a "standard" kiteboard part is not so standard. A fin from one brand may have a different base width, a different screw hole spacing, or a different foil shape than a fin from another. An M6 bolt from the hardware store has the same thread but might be too long, causing it to poke through the top of the deck and into the footbed. This handbook exists to close that knowledge gap.
