A lawn mower wheel looks like one of the simplest parts on a machine, which is exactly why it is so consistently misunderstood. It is not a generic part. It is an engineered component that carries the entire weight of the mower, transmits the force from the engine and transmission to the ground, and determines how the cutting deck behaves over uneven terrain. When a wheel fails or is the wrong specification for the machine, the consequences are rarely catastrophic; they are more often chronic and expensive. You see it as a worn pattern in the grass, a shimmy you cannot seem to trace, or a prematurely worn spindle bearing that needs replacement in the middle of a mowing season.
