A leaf blower tube is the duct that connects the blower's impeller housing to the exit nozzle. A cheap, poorly designed tube can wipe out 30 percent of a blower's airflow, turning a 90-mph machine into a 60-mph one. What A Leaf Blower Tube Is Made Of and How It Is Built

Manufacturers produce tubes in a handful of plastics, with the most common being polypropylene, ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), and, less frequently, nylon. Polypropylene is the budget material found on most residential blowers. It is lightweight and cheap to mold, but it becomes brittle at outdoor winter temperatures, and it has a low fatigue threshold, meaning it will crack after repeated bending or impact. ABS is the step up. It has greater impact resistance and a slightly heavier feel. Commercial-grade equipment often uses ABS or a rubberized polymer blend, specifically designed to survive being thrown into the back of a pickup truck. Nylon tubes, or tubes with a nylon webbing reinforcement, are the premium option, common on backpack blowers and industrial units
