Chapter 1: First Day
Welcome to day one. You're here because you're curious about decoupage, and that's honestly the only requirement. You don't need to be artistic, you don't need to be crafty, and you definitely don't need any prior experience. Think of this first day as a small, safe step into something new — not a test, not a performance, just an experiment to see what this whole thing is about.
Let's start with what decoupage actually is, in plain terms. It's the art of gluing paper onto a surface — like wood, glass, cardboard, or plastic — and then coating it with a special glue that dries clear, so the paper looks like it was painted or printed right onto the object. The word comes from a French term meaning "to cut out," and that's the core of the skill: you cut paper into shapes, you arrange them, you glue them down, and you seal the whole thing. That's it. Everything else is just practice and variation.
Today, you're not going to make a masterpiece. You're going to get a feel for the materials and the process. You're going to make some mistakes, and that's completely fine.
