Chapter 1: First Day
Let's be honest with each other before we start: you are not going to become a master gardener in ten days. Nobody does. A seed needs time to become a sprout, a sprout needs weeks to become a plant, and a plant needs months to give you food. You will not be harvesting tomatoes on day ten. But here is what you will have by the end of this plan: you will have planted seeds correctly, kept them alive through their most delicate stage, and - most importantly - you will have a real, hands-on answer to the question "do I actually like doing this?" That's the whole point of this trial.
Today, on your very first day, we are not going to talk about raised beds, compost ratios, or pruning schedules. That's all future-you stuff. Today, we're going to do one small, concrete thing that a complete beginner can absolutely succeed at. Your only job is to plant a few seeds in a small container, water them, and put them in a spot where they can get light. That's it. No expensive gear, no digging in the mud, no reading a 400-page manual on soil pH. We're going to get you touching soil and seeds with your own hands, because that's the fastest way to learn what this hobby actually feels like.
Here's what you'll need for the next 30 to 45 minutes. Don't worry if you don't have all of it - I'll give
