First things first: take a breath. You’re reading this because you’ve either just been told you have long COVID, or you think you might have it. Maybe you’re scared, maybe you’re furious, and certainly you’re exhausted. All of that is completely reasonable. Welcome to a club nobody wants to join.

Let’s get one thing out of the way immediately. The name is terrible. “Long COVID” makes it sound like you just had a bad cold that overstayed its welcome, like a houseguest who lingers on the couch for an extra week. It sounds almost benign, a little inconvenient. But you know better. You’re living it. You know that what you’re feeling is not “just” anything. It’s real, it’s confusing, and it can be utterly debilitating. So, in this guide, we’re going to treat it with the seriousness it deserves, while also acknowledging that the name we’re stuck with is a bit of an understatement.
