Chapter 1: Why Most Approaches Fail — and What Actually Works
You have done everything right. You took the online quiz that told you your "Ikigai" is in the intersection of creativity and technology. You read a blog post about a woman who left investment banking to run a goat farm in Vermont. You updated your resume to use action verbs and started "networking" - which meant sending LinkedIn connection requests and having awkward coffee chats with people who did not know why they agreed to meet you. And yet, here you are, staring at the same career that drains you, feeling the same vague sense of dread every Sunday night, and wondering what is wrong with you.
Here is what is wrong: nothing. The advice you have been following is wrong. Not entirely - there are grains of truth in all of it - but wrong in a way that is far more dangerous. It is not bad advice because it leads you nowhere; it is seductive advice because it leads you in circles. It keeps you active, busy, and engaged while ensuring you never actually get to where you want to go.

The prevailing narrative is that you just need to discover your one true passion, and the path will become clear. This is the single most damaging idea in career advice.
