About this book

The Complete Handbook of Motor Vehicle Cargo Nets is the first authoritative, engineering-focused reference for a category usually relegated to a few paragraphs in a catalog. This book systematically examines the physical technology of cargo nets, from the molecular structure of polymers like nylon and polyester to the weaving patterns and stitching techniques that determine real-world strength and elasticity. It provides clear definitions for critical specifications like Breaking Strength, Mesh Opening Size, and UV Degradation, enabling you to compare products based on data rather than shelf-appeal. Coverage extends to specialized types, including safety netting for passenger barriers, stretch nets for ATVs, and heavy-duty lashing nets for commercial truck beds, with detailed guidance on selecting the right grade for your specific vehicle and load profile.

I bought this after years of just using whatever cheap net was on the shelf at the auto parts store. Chapter 1 finally explains why those cheap nets fail - it goes deep into the actual webbing material and the difference between a tied and a stitched edge. The choosing chapter is worth the price alone. I only dropped a star because some of the detailed technical specs in chapter 2 get a little dry, and I wish there were more photos of specific installation points. Still, for the level of detail here, it's the best resource I've found.
