I bought this expecting a decent reference and it is that, though it's not quite the end-all guide I hoped for. The physics section is solid and the chapter on magnetic circuits was genuinely useful for understanding why my pull strength numbers were off. I'll keep it on my shelf. But I felt the 'business opportunities' chapter was a bit thin - it names the revenue models but doesn't go deep into any of them, and the supplier landscape chapter reads like it's already a few years outdated given how much the neodymium market has shifted. Fine as an overview, just not the deep-dive I wanted.

Finally, a book that isn't just a series of photos of cute sayings on the fridge. The chapter on magnetic circuit theory, specifically closed-circuit vs. open-circuit design, helped me solve a manufacturer recall issue we were having with a batch of our printed giveaway magnets.
