The chapter on failure modes is the most useful diagnostics guide I've seen in a trade book. I keep it in the truck, not on the shelf.

As a plumbing supply sales rep, I get asked all the time what's the difference between acrylic and fiberglass and why they should care. This book gives me the confidence to explain it clearly. The business chapter is a pleasant surprise too, the section on private labeling and commercial maintenance contracts has given me some ideas to bring back to my boss. A solid reference for anyone on the sales or install side.

It is a thorough book, no doubt, but I found some of the troubleshooting sections a bit dense; I had to reread the delamination fix a couple times to follow. The information on tile-ready boards was precisely what I needed for a project, and Chapter 3's decision framework is well thought out. A few more diagrams would turn this into a five-star reference for me.

There is a lot of solid information here, but it reads like a textbook in spots. I was expecting a more straightforward guide for the homeowner. The glossary is helpful and so is the chapter on choosing the right type. However, I found the installation chapter assumes you have a professional's toolkit, which not all serious hobbyists have. Good reference, but not an easy weekend read.
