About this book

You've seen them at the park — those little planes carving lazy circles in the sky, the pilot on the ground with a radio in hand, looking entirely too calm. Maybe you've watched YouTube videos of crashes and recovery, or browsed a hobby shop website and immediately felt lost. RC airplane flying looks magical from the outside, but it's actually a sequence of teachable skills — orientation, throttle control, turns, landings — and you don't need to master any of them to decide if you love it. This book is a ten-day experiment in curiosity. Each day has one concrete task, one realistic goal, and one honest check-in about how it felt. By the end, you'll know if this is your new obsession or just something you tried once.

I bought this because I've been 'thinking about' RC planes for a year but never pulled the trigger. The first day's simulator setup was genuinely helpful — I had no idea free software existed, and the instructions were clear enough that I was flying (and crashing) within 20 minutes. The honest tone is refreshing; it doesn't promise you'll be a pro in ten days, which is exactly why I trust it. Only giving 3 stars because I wish the gear comparison chapter had a few more budget options under $100, but otherwise a solid onboarding.
