A 10-day, no-fluff plan to write your first short screenplay and decide if screenwriting is for you.
About this book
Have you ever watched a movie and thought, βI could write something like that,β but had no idea where to start? Screenwriting looks mysterious from the outside: special fonts, weird shorthand, the fear of not being βcreative enough.β This guide is for the total beginner who wants to try it, not to become the next Oscar winner in a week and a half, but to see if the practice actually fits them.
Over ten days, you'll get one clear task per day. Day one, you'll just write. Day two, you'll figure out if this is a good use of your time and budget. Day three, you'll pick your tools. Days four and five, you'll learn the two core techniques that make a script feel like a script, not a story. By the end of the week, you'll be editing, and by day ten, you'll have a complete, formatted short screenplay you wrote yourself. No fluff, no cosmic inspiration talk, just a practical, hands-on experiment.

β β β β βI was honestly just killing time on a Sunday when I picked this up, but the Day One task got me to write a page of nonsense dialogue that wasn't half bad. What I liked most is that the book doesn't pretend you're going to be good on day three. It just gets you moving. By day ten I had a five-page short script about a guy arguing with his landlord. It's not good, but it's done, and I actually felt like I learned something real about structure. This is the first "skill" book I've ever finished.
